Veteran queen of blues, Bonnie Raitt, comes to Greek Theatre Berkeley on Saturday 24th September for a night of phenomenal musicianship! Bonnie will play in support of her hotly-anticipated twentieth studio album Dig In Deep, as well as hits from her illustrious career!
“So much of the album is focused on what I want to do live,” she says. “I write and pick these songs so we can nail them on stage.”
Bonnie Raitt is an American blues musician who came to fame in the 1970s with her roots-influenced albums, which fused elements of blues, rock, folk and country. Raitt signed with Warner Brothers, and released her eponymous debut album in 1971 to great critical acclaim. Though her first few albums were consistently rated highly by critics, and she gained a reputation for incredible musicianship through her live performances, it wasn't until 1977's Sweet Forgiveness that she broke through commercially. 1989 saw a resurgence in Raitt's commercial success when she had a major return to public prominence with the release of her album Nick of Time. Her next two albums Luck of the Draw (1991) and Longing in Their Hearts (1994) were also multi-million sellers generating several hit singles, including "Something to Talk About", "Love Sneakin' Up on You", and the ballad "I Can't Make You Love Me". Raitt has received 10 Grammy Awards, is listed as number 50 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and number 89 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
