Tom Petty’s early bands included Sundowners, the Epics, and Mudcrutch, through which he found the musicians who would eventually form Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers in 1975. They released their first, self-titled album one year later, and achieved success in the United Kingdom with the single "Anything That's Rock 'n' Roll”. After word spread to the US that the band were causing a stir overseas, the single "Breakdown" was re-released in the USA in 1978, and charted in the Top 40. Their second album, “ You're Gonna Get It!” released the same year, reached Gold certification, while their third, “Damn the Torpedoes” in 1979, with the popular singles "Don't Do Me Like That” (their first in the top 10 in the USA) and “Refugee”, quickly went Platinum.
From then on Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers went on to release one top charting album after another. Although the heartland movement stopped, support for the band never did, and they continued to tour and record relentlessly. Today, they’re on tour celebrating 40 years of it. What are you waiting for?? Book your tickets and join in!
