Are you ready? I say, are you ready, Y’all? Cypress Hill are in the House! Come celebrate 30 years of Cypress Hill at Greek Theatre Berkeley on Thursday, August 19th 2021. They are firing up the bong one more time and hittin’ one for the road, this time with Atmosphere and Z-Trip. So, grab your tickets, roll out some phat ones and let's get ready to smoke this joint! Three decades before the Latin hip-hop explosion of 2018, B-Real, Sen Dog, and DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill sparked a trip that left popular culture stoned, stunned, and staggering in anticipation for more.
Cypress Hill are an American hip hop group from South Gate, California, considered to be among the main progenitors of West Coast and 90s hip hop in general and are the first hip hop group to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They are lead singer Louis Freese aka B-Real, spinner of tables Lawrence Muggerud aka DJ Muggs, co-lead singer Senen Reyes aka Sen Dog and drummer Eric Correa aka Eric Bobo. In 1988, Sen Dog, B-Real, and DJ Muggs certainly didn’t look like any other hip-hop collective, sound like anything on the radio, or smoke like any homie, headbanger, hesher, or hippie. Instead, they rolled up intense rhymes, hard rock attitude, smoked-out psychedelic production, and Latin swagger into a one-of-a-kind strain on the legendary double-platinum Cypress Hill in 1991. Not to mention, they made history as the first Latino American hip-hop recording group to go platinum. Hailing from South Gate, California, Cypress Hill are considered to be among the main progenitors of West Coast and 90s hip hop in general and are the first hip hop group to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
