Greek Theatre Berkeley presents a night of powerful, intelligent, and crazy entertaining hip hop from some of the best underground hip hop acts America has seen! Atmosphere, Dilated Peoples & Brother Ali take to the stage on Saturday 22nd August for a night of phenomenal lyricism and fat beats!
Formed in Minnesota in the late 1980s/early 1990s, Rapper Slug and DJ/producer Ant make up the rap group Atmosphere. Slug brought together the Rhymesayers collective in 1995; an underground hip-hop clique dedicated to freestyling, intelligent and intricate lyrics, and anti-gangsta positivity. In 1998, Atmosphere released their debut album, Overcast!, which was soon regarded as an underground hip-hop classic. To date, the group has released seven studio albums and ten EPs, and continue to have a loyal and avid fan base, both nationally and internationally.
Dilated Peoples is an American hip hop group from Los Angeles, California. They achieved notability in the underground hip hop community, and have enjoyed mainstream success in the US, with the song "This Way", a 2004 collaboration with Kanye West, Xzibit, and John Legend, who appeared in the music video.
Brother Ali, is an American hip hop artist, community activist and member of the Rhymesayers Entertainment hip hop collective.
