Vance Joy is an Australian indie folk singer and songwriter who kickstarted his career performing in the Melbourne open mic scene at the end of the 2000s while finishing off his law degree. Grabbing a following with his intimate Bon Iver-influenced tunes, Vance Joy took the leap and decided to put law on hold and pursue his music career instead. Fun fact: the star was born James Keogh but took the name Vance Joy from a character in Peter Carey's novel Bliss. As the Aussie musician’s following expanded, he began working with a manager, booking bigger shows around town and eventually recording his debut extended play, God Loves You When You're Dancing. His catchy folk-pop track "Riptide" was an instant success and resulted in a huge signing deal with major label Atlantic Records. Fast forward to 2013 and the indie sensation circled the world on tours and recorded his first record for Atlantic. His debut, Dream Your Life Away, dropped in September 2014, starring further hits “Mess is Mine,” “Georgia” and the “Flood.” His second mixtape, Nation of Two, hit airwaves in February 2018 and featured singles “Lay It On Me,” “Saturday Sun” and “We're Going Home.” 2021 brought even more new tunes for Vance Joy with “Missing Piece,” which is such a hit with fans and critics alike that it’s double platinum!!
