He’s a jack of all trades, a genius genre-blender, wildly eclectic, and dashingly charismatic.

He’s a iconic rapper; he’s a serious guitar guy. He’s a pop savant, a reflective acoustic guitarist, and a funk god. The genre blending is pure Beck – infectious, energetic, theatrical, wildly eclectic, and captivating. If there’s one man who understands the secret of youth, it is Beck.

American musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer Beck David Hansen shot right to international fame in the early 1990s with his breakthrough single, “Loser”. With his masterful toggling between folk, funk, soul, hip-hop, alternative rock, electronic, country, and psychedelia, Beck has been hailed as one of the most idiosyncratically creative musicians of the 1990s and 2000s alternative rock scene. He brought more than just music to the industry and gained lifelong fans with smashers such as “Where It’s At”, “Debra”, “It’s All in Your Mind”, “Nobody’s Fault But My Own”, and “Guess I’m Doing Fine”.

With his pop-art mosaic of musical styles, iconic lyrics, and postmodern arrangements incorporating electronic samples and drum machines, Beck topped the charts and racked up multiple awards. He is a four-time platinum artist, was nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, won eight Grammy Awards out of 22 nominations, and was also nominated for a World Music Award for the world’s best live act.

The Berkeley Symphony is an integral part of the Bay Area music scene and has an international reputation for its adventurous programming. This season will be no different – in fact, one-of-a-kind. Throw Beck’s incredible innovation and creativity into a pot with the leadership of music director and conductor Joseph Young and the incredibly accomplished Berkeley Symphony, and the result will be a unique, hit-filled, turbo-charged evening at the magnificent Greek Theatre that simply cannot be missed.
