The William Randolph Hearst Greek Theatre is home to the greatest entertainment shows that drop by the busy campus of the University of California in Berkeley. Everyone is welcome to visit this world-class amphitheater that boasts an impressive seating capacity of 8,500 with clear sound and technical systems powered by UltraSound audio.

More popularly known as “The Greek” among locals and students within the area, the outdoor venue in the foothills provides a fresh viewing experience for all kinds of performances where both artistic expression and natural beauty are sure to linger long after the final curtains fall.

The venue first opened its doors more than 120 years ago, earning the title of the longest-running outdoor amphitheater in the entire United States to date! Few venues can lay claim to a heritage that spans from President Theodore Roosevelt's commencement speech to two visits by the 14th Dalai Lama, not to mention a recent live performance by the acclaimed singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers and an astonishing twenty-nine shows by the legendary Grateful Dead.

On top of that, only the most influential names in the music scene have performed in this popular campus venue. Over the years, the stage has hosted icons like Bob Dylan, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Prince, and Fleetwood Mac!

Looking for the best spot that offers a breathtaking view of the San Francisco Bay? This is the destination to be! Exquisite and exceptional, the entire stage is inspired by the ancient Greek theater of Epidaurus and is sure to charm every single guest who enters its famed halls. With this, it’s no wonder that it's quickly gaining a reputation as the premier open-air stage in the state.

Beyond the string of live concert shows, the Greek Theatre also serves as a go-to hub for students who maximize the stage for a range of events and celebrations. Some of the much-awaited annual events include the Berkeley Jazz Festival, UC Berkeley graduation ceremonies, as well as conventions that feature distinguished speakers from across the globe. Indeed, it stands as a place where history and culture take center stage, making it a critical piece of Berkeley’s rich past.
